Field Trial Results

Open Trial, 27-10-19.

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held their Autumn open stake on the Wicklow mountains today at Glencree. A full card of 30 dogs took to the mountain in what proved to be a great day both weather wise and with the number of Grouse showing. Unfortunately the cold north westerly wind meant tht scenting conditions were difficult and a number of dog were disqualified early as Grouse were flushed and not pointed. Judges for the day were Michael Houston and Alan Bartley. At the end of the trial the judges had the following awards:

1st: IRSB Hunsigo Donard handled by Mark Adams.

2nd: IRWSD Craigrua Devin handled by Jim Sheridan.

3rd: IRWSD Craigrua Flute handled by Dessie Linton.

Open Trial, 12-10-19.

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held their Autumn confined stake on the Wicklow mountains today at Kippure. Judges for the day were Pat Dooley and Jason Benson. 10 IRWS took to the mountain (2 withdrawals) and a great day was had by all. At the end of the trial the judges had the following awards:

1st Excellent: IRWSD Craigrua Flute handled by Dessie Linton.

2nd Excellent: IRWSD Craigrua Nevin handled by Dessie Linton

While numbers were small the judges commented on the great standard of the dogs running.

Open Trial, 07-09-19.

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held an open stake on the Wicklow mountains today at Kippure. Judges for the day were Billy Grace and Anthony Mulhall. After what proved to be a day for the english setters the following awards were made:

1st Excellent: ESB FTCH Gortinreagh Faith handled by Gerard Devine.

2nd Excellent: ESD Glanlough Flaks handled by Jimmy Griffin.

3rd Excellent: ESD FTCH Ballyellen Tango handled by Gerard Devine.

4th Excellent: ESD Chieftan handled by Mandy Brennan.

Open Trial, 09-02-19.

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held their spring open trial on the Dublin mountains today at Glencree. Judges for the day were Jim Sheridan and Jason Benson. A total of 11.5 brace took to the hill on a cold breezy day. At the end of the first round the judges called for 5 brace of dogs back for the second round. Grouse showed in good numbers today. At the end of the trial the judges made the following awards:

1st Excellent: IRSB Ballydavid Starjet of the Kingdom handled by Hugh Brady.

2nd Excellent: IRWSB Rosie Jim handled by Raymond Monroe.

3rd Excellent: IRSB Malstabodarna Embla handled by Hugh Brady.

Hugh Brady was awarded the Craigrua Perpetual Trophy for handling the winning dog.


Confined Trial, 22-09-18.

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held their confined stake on the Wicklow Mountains. Judges for the day were Anthony Mulhall and Aidan Dunne. At the end of the trial the judges made the following awards.


1st: IRWSB Granaghburn Nebraska - handled by Raymond Monroe
2nd: IRWSB Rosie Jim - handled by Raymond Monroe
Best young IRWS: IRWSD Craigrua Loki - handled by Jim Sheridan.

Open Trial, 29-10-18.

The Irish Red & White Setter Club held its open trial on the Wicklow Mountains Monday 29th October 2018. 11 brace of dogs ran in the trial. Judges for the day Rev. Seamus O'Neill and Larry Quinn called 61/2 brace back for the second round and at the end of the trial the judges made the following awards:
 

1st: IRSB Ballydavid Gaelforce of the Kingdom - handled by Hugh Brady.
2nd: IR&WSD Craigrua Nevin - handled by Dessie Linton

 

International Snipe Trial, 22-11-18. 

 

The Irish Red and White Setter Club held an international snipe trial for pointers and setters Thursday 22nd November 2018 on the midlands bog complex outside Athlone, Co Westmeath. 30 dogs ran in the trial with an abundance of snipe in what turned out to be an excellent trial. Judges for the day were the Flannelly brothers Vincie and Eddie. At the end of the trial the judges had six awards.

3rd: Diablo Du Val De Loue (IRSD) handled by Bruno Fasoli

5th: Granaghburn Nebraska (IR&WSB) handled by Raymond Monroe
6th: Halma Des Rives De La Penfeld (GSB) handled by Jean-Pierre Rivoal
